Indulge in these Fluffy Stuffed Garlic Protein Naans and relish the taste of homemade naan bread with a protein-packed twist. This recipe is a winning combination of simplicity and deliciousness that will make your taste buds sing. With only four core ingredients, this recipe is straightforward and easy to follow, making it a perfect choice for both seasoned chefs and novices in the kitchen. Plus, with a whopping 10 grams of protein per serving, these naans offer a satisfying and nutritious addition to any meal.

Our Fluffy Stuffed Garlic Protein Naans are made with just self-raising flour, 0% fat Fage, feta cheese, and garlic powder, plus a dash of salt for added flavor. The secret to achieving the perfect fluffy texture lies in the resting time. After mixing the dough and forming it into a ball, let it rest for about three hours. This allows the gluten to develop and makes the dough easier to work with, enhancing the overall texture of your naans.

After the dough has rested, it’s time to shape it and add the filling. Crumbled feta cheese, garlic, and leftover yoghurt are mixed together to create a rich and savory filling that complements the soft, fluffy naan bread. This filling is placed in the center of each dough disk, sealed, and then flattened into a chunky disk before being cooked in a dry, preheated pan. The end result is a golden-brown, fluffy naan, stuffed with a creamy, garlicky filling that’s bursting with flavor.

These Fluffy Stuffed Garlic Protein Naans are not only delicious fresh out of the pan, but they also freeze and reheat well, ensuring you can enjoy them whenever you like. To further boost the protein content if you’re having this for a snack, pair these naans with a mint yoghurt dip made from 0% fat Fage, mint sauce, and salt. This tangy and refreshing dip pairs perfectly with the naans, adding another layer of flavor while keeping the meal balanced and nutritious. Unsurprisingly they also pair perfectly with a curry!

Whether you’re looking for a new recipe to replace you’re usual naan or a protein-rich snack, these Fluffy Stuffed Garlic Protein Naans are a fantastic choice.

Servings 6 breads

Cook Time 10 minutes
Resting Time 3 hours
Total Time 3 hours 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 200 grams self raising flour
  • 220 grams 0% fat Fage*
  • 100 grams feta cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  • Mix the flour with the most of the Fage & half a teaspoon of salt, leave about 20g of Fage in a separate bowl. Once this is well incorporated & has turned into a doughy ball leave in a clingfilm (or damp towel) covered bowl for about 3 hours.*
  • After your dough has rested crumble the feta into the bowl with the leftover yoghurt, add the garlic & mix well.
  • Preheat a dry pan on a medium high heat.
  • Split your dough into 6 equal pieces, I like to weigh it otherwise I end up with one really small one at the end.
  • Use your hands to shape one of the pieces into a thin(ish) disk, if this is too awkward you can use a rolling pin on a lightly floured surface.
  • Add one sixth of the mixture into the centre of your disk & pull the sides in to close it. Roll it into a ball & flatten into a chunky disk.
  • Put your chunky dough disks into the hot pan, you may need to batch these. Cook for 3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Place the cooked breads into a warm oven to keep them warm while you finish the batch.
  • Once cooled these freeze excellently & can be reheated in the microwave, toaster or hot pan. Enjoy!

Notes

*I’ve made these with blended cottage cheese & Kvagg, I found it hard to mix the blended cottage cheese in & I liked the subtle sweetness the Kvarg gave the breads, both turned out good!

*We’re not psychics, we can’t possible know when the craving for a stuffed naan will overcome us. If you need these right now, that’s totally fine. The gluten isn’t very well developed so it’s a bit harder to shape, but they taste pretty much the same.
